Welcome to Cancer Strong, where our journey began with a heartfelt invitation to celebrate our friend June's battle with cancer. What started as a simple idea to throw a party and raise funds for the overwhelming costs of cancer treatment turned into a community-wide outpouring of support.
Recognizing the challenges of seeking assistance, we took a bold step to ask for help, and the response was beyond our expectations. Our community in the heart of the Sierra Nevada's not only contributed generous donations of money and goods but also extended open arms, embracing a local friend in need. The experience was truly overwhelming, and it fueled our determination to do more.
June's Story
During June's extensive chemotherapy journey, she expressed a desire to pay forward the kindness she had received. Thus, Cancer Strong was born in 2023, with the goal of spreading the incredible spirit of our community to even more individuals facing the hardships of cancer. To ensure we continue supporting our neighbors, all recipients of assistance must reside in Calaveras County.
Our 3rd Annual event, "Taps for Ta Ta's" at Murphys Pourhouse, was a resounding success. We are thrilled to share the success with our local Calaveras County community and extend a helping hand to those in need.
